Prison Apostolate

The prison apostolates which is in existence in JDPC Nnewi Diocese, attends to the pastoral needs of the prisoners in Nnewi correctional Facility (Prison), by celebrating the holy mass on Sundays and administering the sacrament as at when due.

During the Lenten periods JDPC Nnewi also conducts station of the cross and Holy Week activities for the inmates of the prison. Once a year the bishop, the commission and other diocesan lay faithful gather together mostly during Christmas to celebrate with the inmates with food items and the Lordship words of encouragement and blessings.

Every month we cook for the prisoners; we believe that love and care are contributing factors to character and attitudinal change in every individual, this is the idea behind feeding of the prisoners every month, with this kind gesture we are sure that they are healthy while they pass through their stay in the prison.

We carry out the Cooking for the prisoners every month program in partnership with philanthropists or friends of JDPC Nnewi.

Through the help of our sponsors we have donated sound and musical equipment to the prison to make the Eucharistic celebration lively and active.
