JDPC Nnewi Celebrates World Milk Day with Nutrition Awareness Outreach in Three Schools
As part of activities marking World Milk Day, the Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) Nnewi carried out a nutrition awareness outreach programme in three primary schools within Nnewi, promoting healthy feeding habits and educating children on the importance of proper nutrition for growth and development.
The outreach was held at Our Lady of Fatima Primary School, Umudim, St. John the Baptist Primary School, Akammili, and St. Joseph Nursery and Primary School, Otolo, where pupils were engaged in interactive learning sessions focused on the nutritional value of milk and the benefits of maintaining a balanced diet.
At the various schools visited, the Director of JDPC Nnewi, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Ben Chima Okolo, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of proper nutrition in the lives of children. He highlighted the role of milk as a rich source of essential nutrients needed for healthy growth, strong bones, and overall well-being. He further encouraged the pupils to develop healthy eating habits and reminded them that good nutrition is fundamental to their academic success and future development.
The programme was led by Ma Anadu Nchedo, who guided the pupils through engaging and educational sessions designed to increase their understanding of healthy nutrition. Through discussions and interactive activities, the children learned about the importance of consuming nutritious foods and the positive impact of milk on their physical and mental development.
